The technology involved in the international tile industry just keeps getting better and better! The technology Cotto d’Este is using in their new plant that produces their Blend Stone Series is called CONTINUA+. It is the most efficient, highest-productivity technology for the accurately managed manufacture of ceramic slabs and tiles. The slabs are formed without using a traditional press or mould, ensuring maximum flexibility in terms of size and thickness. Waste material is always below 3% and recyclability is 100%, making it very sustainable. CONTINUA+ seamlessly integrates the powder forming phase and its subsequent digital decoration. The key strengths of this exclusive process are high quality texturing and unrivalled surface shine. Cotto d’Este is now able to produce 12,000 m2 per day of their Blend Stone from this production line.
Blend Stone superimposes three graphic textures based on three natural stones: the typical grain of Limestone is joined by the rust-coloured inclusions and halo effect of Pietra Piasentina, and finally, the dark segments and light, delicate veining of Beola.
The 14 mm thickness holds the secret to extraordinarily beautiful ceramic surfaces that are highly resistant to impact, scratches, dirt and chemicals. Pressed using a special technique and fired for twice as long as traditional porcelain stoneware, the raw materials boast an unrivaled compactness.
Two large new formats… Blend Stone introduces two new large formats in thick porcelain stoneware:
120 x 120 cm and 90 x 180 cm. Together with the outdoor surfaces, four sub-formats complete the decorative set of this varied and versatile collection.
