ITALY’S LATEST NOW IN STOCK HERE

Welcome to the Tile Solutions August newsletter. This year is certainly disappearing quickly! It only seems like yesterday that Tile Solutions founder Alan Macklin was in Italy for the Cersaie Tile Fair. One of the new sensations he discovered there was Quintessenza’s 3Lati tile. We’re pleased to announce that this stunning new textured tile is now in stock in Brisbane. Give us a call today – we’d love to show you some samples.

NEW KERLITE AVAILABLE

Cotto d’Este’s ultra-thin Kerlite tile revolutionised the industry. Now there’s a new Kerlite 6plus – the Pietra d Iseo range. Available in 1200 x 1200 x 6.5mm and 1200 x 2600 x 6.5mm, this tile was inspired by the Ceppo stone, formed through the ages between the rocks of Mount Clemo and the waters of Lake Iseo. It’s a versatile material, capable of giving individuality to any environment.

The Pietra d’Iseo Kerlite from Cotto d’Este offers a complete design solution for indoors as well as outdoors. Check it out today.

COSMIC COLLECTION

Unicom Starker’s latest, the Cosmic collection, is a 10 mm thick glazed porcelain stoneware wall and floor tile with a polished surface and a stunning stone effect. Cosmic is in stock now in black or white colours. It has a rich, soft, textured look and a lovely non-repeating pattern that is very upmarket.

EVOSTONE

Evostone is Unicom Starker’s new porcelain stoneware collection inspired by the world of natural stones. It stands out for the depth of its texture and it’s colours – light chalks, warm greys, dusty blacks. Born to be integrated in contemporary contexts, as well as combined with traditional materials in restoration of the architecture of the past, the Evostone collection is presented in several formats and enriched by a special finish that enhances its surface. At this stage, Grey and Ivory are indent colours.

Latest International Design Trends – Direct from Cersaie 2018 in Italy

I’ve just returned from a trip to Bologna, Italy for Cersaie 2018, the world ceramic tile and bathroom furnishing exhibition. There were some absolutely stunning and beautiful displays from all the big names in the industry. More than 110,000 architects, designers, builders, artists, tile retailers and lovers of great design attended – the biggest Cersaie crowd I have seen in my years of attendance.

This year there were some fantastic tile innovations released that I can’t wait to show you – sizes, colours, textures and design trends. With 840 exhibitors from 40 different countries spread over 161,000 m2 of exhibition space, there are simply too many new releases to cover in one newsletter.

Impressive New Releases

Here are some of the stand-out products at Cersaie 2018 from my perspective. I can’t wait to show you these.

VANITY by Cotto D’Este

This is a beautiful new look in the famous Kerlite 6plus, which unlike other manufacturers, is still reinforced with fibreglass on the rear side. It’s available in three colours (including a beautiful brown) and two finishes and in 1200x 1200mm and 1200 x 2600. I particularly love the Bookmatch effect – two panels with mirror image looks that look magnificent as a feature. Look for this tile on our video.

CRYSTAL COLLECTION II from Bisazza

This company is world famous for their stupendous design work in mosaics and glass tiles. Their exhibition stand was a must-see this year. They previewed their new Crystal Collection II, which uses a feature Swarovski Crystal in Red – you have to see it to believe it! Check it out in more detail in our video.

DEBRIS from Unicom Starker

This product takes the polished concrete look to the next level of sophistication. Five beautiful colours and a range of sizes up to 1200 x1200, as you’ll see in the photo here. The Debris looks absolutely stunning on either walls or floors. We can order these now on indent for you.

PIETRA D’ISEA from Cotto D’Este

This product is inspired by the typical Lombard stone, Ceppo di Grè, used to build the palaces, villas and monuments of the city of Milan. The surface of this stone, with its conglomerate-style irregular design adds real character to any environment. These are available in a Kerlite 6plus or these 20mm pavers I’m looking at with Sonia, our long-term contact at Cotto D’Este.

EVOSTONE by Unicom Starker

I met with Nicola, the Export Manager for Unicom Starker, and we both loved this tile, which is also available in a non-slip version. This manufacturer rarely gets it wrong and I’m predicting the Evostone will be a popular product. The size and colour range is great, and the hexagonal feature tiles could be used in lots of interesting ways.

CONTEXT from Panaria

This is another wonderful concrete-look product, which our long-time friend Simone, our Panaria agent (who knows all the best local restaurants in Rome!). It has a real richness and softness that brings design warmth to even the largest areas. A 6mm thick product, it’s available in 1200×1200 & 1200x2600mm panels that look amazing on floors and walls. Also available now on indent at Tile Solutions.

EVEN from Panaria

If you’re looking for something different, check out the Even collection. The rich Cherry colour was one of the real eye-catchers for many at Cersaie and the dimensionality of these tiles brings depth as either a feature or a whole wall. They would be fantastic in bathrooms or kitchens. Check out the great use of the Cherry colour in this image …

PIETRA DI GRE from Unicom Starker

Another standout product that really caught my eye. This is another tile inspired by Ceppo di Gre – it’s a riverstone tile with large conglomerates in it. The natural stone colour is Greco but it’s also available in other colours. Pietra di Gre is available in a normal thickness tile in several different sizes, plus mosaics and planks. This range is really worth your consideration and suits a modern colour palette in both commercial and domestic uses.
